A new Diablo 4 patch has arrived with a number of welcome fixes and bugs, including adjustments to the UI that will hopefully cut down on the number of unintentional premium battle pass activations. But there’s one change it makes to the game that, to be blunt, I am very disappointed by.

Silent Hill Ascension was announced in 2022 as a “massively interactive live event,” featuring art and sound design from JJ Abram’s Bad Robot Games studio. We didn’t have a whole lot to go on at the time except that it looked to be a sort of “Twitch Plays” take on Silent Hill: The announcement said Ascension will “immerse participants around the globe in the psychological horror at the heart of Silent Hill in an unparalleled way—by putting an all-new Silent Hill story and characters into the hands of the audience as the narrative unfolds, live on multiple platforms.”

Overwatch 2’s new support hero is Lifeweaver, a Thai healer with unprecedented utility.

Blizzard dropped a screenshot of Lifeweaver on Twitter and says more details will come out tomorrow, but a PCGamesN article—which was posted prematurely and has now been taken down—revealed a number of details about the character.

Blizzard says that Lifeweaver is similar to a World of Warcraft Druid. He’s all about helping people with nature, or sci-fi nature known as “Biolight”. Biolight is an alternative to the Hardlight tech that Symmetra uses for her abilities, like her massive barrier ultimate. He’s also the game’s first openly pansexual character, which will surely create some fun pre-match conversations between the existing heroes.

A mere three months after it finally hit Steam and (probably more importantly, I admit) nine days after it hit consoles, Ubisoft’s live-service Trackmania has hit the 5 million player milestone. Ubisoft celebrated hitting the number in a tweet posted to the company’s account yesterday.

Ubisoft didn’t say explicitly that it’s managed to acquire those players thanks to Trackmania’s new presence on consoles and Steam, but it’s not exactly a dastardly riddle to figure out. The game originally released as a Ubisoft and Epic Games Store exclusive back in 2020, before sneaking onto Steam last February. We all know by now that Helldivers 2 is really good and really popular, but Circana industry analyst Mat Piscatella says the game’s sales success in its first few weeks of launch is almost unprecedented—and he’s pretty excited about it. 

“Feel like Steve Irwin sighting a rare bird or something,” Piscatella said in a recent tweet thread. “Rare and amazing, in an Australian accent even.”

The thrill is driven by what Piscatella said is “an honest-to-goodness inverse decay curve,” which he explained is a phenomenon that occurs when a game flips the usual course of sales, which go hardest at release and then tail off at varying rates.

In a recently taken down blog post on Steam (via Wccftech), Nixxes, the developer behind the PC port of Rachet and Clank: Rift Apart, wrote that because of the recent DirectStorage update, you can play the former PS5 exclusive on a hard drive, albeit at its minimum settings.

When Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart was initially announced, Insomniac’s creative director, Marcus Smith, said that the game’s dimensional rift gameplay “would not have been possible without the solid-state drive of the PlayStation 5.”
